Stand-up
Comedy
During my master’s program, I wrote a spec sitcom as the capstone project. To develop joke-writing skills and gain insight into a comedian’s perspective, I delved into the world of stand-up comedy. I studied with Ricky Crom at the iconic Comedy Cellar in New York and quickly fell in love with the craft. I even had the opportunity to perform at renowned venues like Dangerfield’s, the Comedy Cellar, and the Broadway Comedy Club. Although I’m not performing regularly at the moment, I plan to return to it in the near future
Life on a leash
Life on a Leash is a sitcom about three immigrants navigating the challenges of life in New York City. While they hustle to make ends meet, they go to great lengths to maintain the illusion of a glamorous, trouble-free existence for their friends and families back in their home countries
This project features a comprehensive bible with synopses for 10 episodes, a spec pilot, and a roadmap for future seasons. If you'd like to learn more about it, feel free to send an email to barroco@me.com
In the summer of 2020, during the early months of the pandemic, I brought together a group of friends—remotely, of course—and we created Casos de Podcast. It was a lighthearted, short-format podcast where three or more people tackled surprise topics in just five minutes. Recorded in Portuguese, the episodes are available on Spotify. While it only had one season, I’m already planning a brand-new podcast, set to launch in 2025

Through Iris
In 2018, I had the opportunity to collaborate on a project with fashion icon Iris Apfel. I served as both producer and liaison between Mrs. Apfel and the Brazilian team behind a play inspired by her life - “Através da Iris.” The play debuted in Rio de Janeiro in October 2018 and ran in theaters until early 2020
